I have been having problems with my RD1 instrument custer and finally half the needles stopped working. I don't know what speed I am going anymore and I can't even guess off the rpm's because the tach needle broke too. (I don't mean the needle broke in half, I mean the cluster stopped working and they won't move when I accelerate). mad.gif
I really like the look of the RD2 cluster and decided I would go with one of those, I hate the rd1 cluster.
If anyone has one lieing around I can pay as soon as you say so. I'd rather not pay up the ass as I could go to the junkyard and pay $150 for one locally, I was thinking more like $40 for the cluster (that's the average I see them going for on this site).
Who can help me out? tibby01? I'd but one of your LED-ed (needles and tick marks) clusters off you if it is an RD2.
Mileage does not matter.

pat, i've got a RD2 cluster i'd rather not part with, but we can't have you going around without a speedometer. If this post stays open for 2 weeks and you have no hits, i'll sell you mine.

you can make the needle "kit" fit SUPER easily. you might have to trim a little bit of plastic, but thats it.

what im saying is that you can transfer everything from your rd1 cluster to your rd2 cluster, so that you have blue lights in your new one.
me personally, i would just get another rd1 cluster. your el gauges will not match up right at all with the rd2 cluster.

tibby01, trust me. Knowing you has enlightned me of instrument cluster knowledge. wink1.gif
I dont' have EL gauges anymore, I want an RD2 cluster with no EL gauges (personally I don't like the white background anymore, it's just too much). And I want the needles and tick marks blue, the turn signals and indicator lights are just a matter of drilling and moving the bulbs from the rd1 cluster to the rd2 cluster.
Maybe you can walk me through the needle swap? There are wires soldered ONTO the rd1 cluster and run inside the cluster, how can I just swap all that to the rd2 cluster?
Plus if I'm not getting el gauges for the rd2 cluster, I'm going to want the tick marks illuminated blue w/ LED's.

oh yeah. you will have to heat those up and pull those off. after that, its just a matter of a few screws. my needle diy can pretty much show you exaclty what you will be getting into. the only difference between rd1 and rd2 clusters, as far as the needle kit goes, is that the clear plastic peices are slightly different. you will have to trim them a little bit. then just find a place to tap into for power and ground with the glow needle wires. doesnt have to be the same place as i had them. pick the same spot you used to power your el gauges.
