I have a friend of the family that has a son that drives a 97 RD that needs a new tranny because his is shot. Does anyone have an extra one or knows someone that has one, I wanted to check here first before I send them off to a junkyard. Thanks in advance

I doubt you'll be able to find one on here man. Unless you get lucky with a part out but I can only imagine how high shipping would be on an auto tranny. Have you tried car-parts.com? Last I checked (2-3 months ago) they had a bunch a little north of Tampa (crystal river IIRC) and some in Orlando.

I have one, but I'm up in Missouri. Honestly, it'd probably be cheaper to check the local yards first like Bommello said. If that doesn't pan out for you, I'm sure we can figure something out.

Good Luck

Tell your friend to forget about the auto and swap to standard biglaugh.gif But honestly your best bet will have to be car parts like I said before. BTW, when looking for the new tranny make sure it's from an RD1 because the RD2 auto tranny is different

I know you come from the GK crowd where auto-> standard is actually quite involved in that model, however, on RDs it's much less involved... no changing ecus, gauge cluster, etc. I'm actually planning this swap in the next couple months. If your friend seems interested in this swap let me know tomorrow if you head out to CCC and I'll explain further. Sorry for the OT.... someone help this man find a trans.

I met up with him a little while ago and he doesn't need it anymore. His friend went out and found one at a junkyard....
