Where I've Been....
#12
Ok, here's the update that I promised.....
I had to put my dad to work with wiping down the car with a cleaner before it was painted....
Silver...
We decided at Midnight on Tuesday we decided that we suck at freehand taping and decided to call it a night....
On Wednesday my dad and I worked with my original concept and created a stencil out of bristol board, and cut it out. Thursday was Round 2 in the paint booth. As we moved it along the car, we shifted the stencil up so that all the points are the same. After it was done, we made another stencil the length of the car, cut it out and flipped it over so that the other side is symmetrical fing02.gif
One of the scariest moments of my life....almost thought there was too much black.
Not so bad....It was like Christmas....
Ok, so the black looked good. Then I spotted a bottle of "Crystal Blue Pearl"....so I asked him to add that to the clear...he told me that it had to be done with a clear base, not added to the clear coat. He's been painting cars for 20 years...so I gave him the ok. Didn't quite expect the black to turn blue. The best part is, at night its black, and when the light hits it right, it fades from gloss black to metallic navy blue.....
The semi completed money shot.....
After a good 20 hours of work putting EVERYTHING back together.... I finally got it home...
MORE PICS TO COME!!!!

It looks so different. Personally, I would never do anything that crazy to my car but knowing your style I think it looks sick on your car. Good call on adding the blue, I think plain black on top might have been too sharp of a contrast to the silver. You should paint your calipers the blue/black to tie the whole theme together. But overall, looks pretty sick!

that is EXACTLY what I've been wanting to do with my front bumper... exactly where the lines should go and flow through down the car.
I love it.
How are the tails painted? Did you spray blue kandy on them?

Right from the beginning, when I decided on 2-tone, I knew I had to ride that fender line with it. Thats what makes a Tiburon unique. I know theres going to be a few people that don't like the "striping" (taken off a model of a tiger shark), but thats just what I had invisioned, and I went with it. Its awesome when you take something from your head and actually make it work.
The tail lights are still those goofy APC altezzas that I had. As much as people hate them, I like them, but they will be either tinted, or sprayed with a Kandy. I think I'll use black because I'm not sure what the blue will look like.
The interior pieces were painted. I spent all winter collecting them, and molding a 7" LCD into the radio surround. I also made tweeter pods to go on the cover for the mirror wires. I never would have attempted it without the helpful instructions of Blacktibby00.
