That is the exact color I have been trying to make my tib for a while now lol. If I could get off my ass and actually finish priming it properly.

The dim lighting does hide the roll marks. I still havent wet sanded and the last few times I have painted it was out side in the sun (not on purpose I thought it was going to be a cool day and overcast).
Here is my paint history.
1st I got it gloss black, The paint started to break down

2nd Since the paint and clear started to break down I did a rattle can flat black

3rd I got tired of people asking when I was going to paint the car so I rolled it Olive (influced by a car on Honda-tech.com)

4th = current

During the holiday season

Here is the edit:
DTN:
Ok DTN I am not going to argue with you... the can says Rustoleum SATIN BLACK

Jorge:
It is my daily driver for now. It is my main hobby, friends cars are the other.
The roof vent closes and seals look at the first post the handle closes the vent and it obens both ways.
Here is the web site that sells them
http://www.rustrepair.com/app2/onlinecat.h...&p=wi-vents
Click on side vents then click on go to parts page.

ok, 'satin black' makes sence. Satin is a fabric and comes in many different colors. Just saying satin is like saying My Leather RD2 when you're actually saying my Leather Black RD2.

Dude, your car is really outstanding. I like the work you've done on the interior. Have you considered fiberglassing it or are you going to leave it bare bones like that? I think your interior has alot of potential. Now that you've stripped it, and laid a baseline dash, you could add a fiberglass dash over it easily by laying some seran wrap down, stretching a few bed sheets across it and then fiberglassing over the top. If you'd like to do it on a weekend I'd be more then happy to bring everything I've got.

Of course it would be counterproductive to weight reduction, but we could make it look really good for about $100 in parts, some spray paint and about 20lbs of extra weight in the cab.

edit: WTF?!?! I just realized you live across town from me. You should get ahold of me if you need a hand.

^^^

Actually, the average person would assume he means 'satin black' the color, which anyone who's ever even looked at spraybombs of paint at wal-mart would know is a color. tongue.gif

Sweet car yo, I like how stripped down you have it.

I am too picky about weight for fiberglass coverings. I am the kind of person who cuts off brackets and ends of bolts. I still need to make the tib lose weight. Theres alot off stuff missing that you can not see heat shieds and fire wall foam. Still stuff I need to replace or remove to save on the weight i.e. wheels, hood...ect.

I need to get one of those kfx headers so can rid of the obx rasp and justify going back to a side exit exhaust... this time an aluminium one smile.gif

Thanks for the comments smile.gif

Do you go to the bare paint every time? I just go down to the original paint and primer over that. Did you primer or just roll the color straight on, Like I said I wanted flat black to go on after the primer and I think you just gave me it. I was gonna use rustoleum ever since I saw the post about the $50 paint job on here.

If I would have gotten up and finished re-primering the last half of the car I would have tried just regular black rustoleum. I hope you don't think I'm going to copy you, I would have tried the color eventually if I didn't like the other shades of black lol.

Rolled on rusto sticks to anything mang. I did my first roll on krylon flat black camo paint. The adhesion is amazing. I need to see how this stuff will roll if I was out of the sun when doing it. The olive went on so nicely in the winter in the garage.

I am thinking about switching to satin white since my car is A/C-less. I have never seen a satin white paint job on a car other than a subaru. I have always hated gloss ever since elemetary school art class when the teacher put gloss on the frog I made from clay. I told that B!^(# I do not like the glaze. Scary how things like that shape your views.

heh, I'm sure my parents would like the roll on rustoleum better than the spray primer I've been using lmao. And there's no worry of over spray on to foreign objects. just put out some plastic and roll away.

You tape everything off or take everything off?

Looks amazing! One of the most stripped down RDs I've seen. What did you spray (or paint) on the interior? Is it just paint, or some sort of sound deadening?

The interior is just rattle can rustoleum aluminium. sound deadening = evil

When I paint with the roller I remove the corner lights and tails and I slide a piece of paper in between the bumper and front lights. I do not bother masking the windows because any over roll can be removed with acetone and since I went with black I wasn't worried about the weather stripping.

I did do a rattle can job in my father's garage once.... he didn't like the overspray dust.
