this is currently my fav tib on the boards i wish you would have won COTM bro. the amount of work put into this car is just nuts. drivetrain is unique because none of us have access to those parts in the US, you have 5lug swap, nasty OEM body with just shark wing, wiring swap. i mean that is alot of time consuming work. good job bro i hope you will let us in on what all you had to do sometime in the future and give us some better pics on the setup.

and the thing is, there wouldn't be many authorities that i know of, that would be able to tell if a car was RWD, FWD, AWD by looking at a car. even seeing the car drive, they wouldn't know.

i wouldn't think you would have trouble with it, just for the fact that no one would be able to tell, unless word somehow got around.

what officer is going to think to look under someones car when they got pulled over to see if they changed their drivetrain. lmao.gif

i have a folder of a AWD evo tib on my laptop at home, ill try to see if there are good enough underside pics to see what needs to be hacked up.

good thing about having that EVO motor and trans in there, you can now go RWD if you want fing02.gif just get the AWD trans and don't use the FWD portion. some company made their evo8 a drift car by blocking off the front axle openings</div>
is that AWD tib red? I have pics of a red AWD tib, it seems like he hacked off the spare wheel well.
My current drivetrain is 4wd locked to FWD, but i'm not sure if you can go back to 4WD once you've locked the drivetrain to either RWD or FWD. I know that earlier evo1, 2 and 3 you can't go back.

I retained the internal dashboard wirings, most of the engine wiring was swapped.

yeah it was the red tib. i archived all of the pics in case they got removed sometime.

not sure about the whole changing back the transmission, but you could always just get a new trans if you REALLY wanted to go AWD.

how did you go about 'locking' it to only FWD? there should be a way to go back to AWD depending on how you did it.

SOCKS: AFAIK the portion which drives the rear wheels was sealed off by a fabricated piece of steel..something like that. which is why people tell me that I should get a 2WD drivetrain which should limit the loss of power through the tranny..

yeah, its how most people block it off, its probably a piece of steel, and then welded in there, so all the necessary stuff to run the rear is in there spinning, but theres no shaft hooked up.. it can be un-done i believe, but would be easier to get a new AWD trans.

you shouldnt be losing too much power through the AWD trans utilizing just FWD.

SOCKS: yeah what you described is exactly what I understand as well. I reckon it would be better to get a "new" AWD drivetrain as well, at least everything is "intact".

what you have done with your trans (or as it sounds) is the same thing they do with the newer evos to make em RWD for drifting. it should be able to be reversed. if you decide to go AWD, i would try and get it to work that way, instead of throwing money into an indentical trans.

so, go AWD.. NOWW!!!!! lol

you could go RWD, but you would still have to cut up the back.. RWD would be cool, but AWD would be better IMO.

my buddy ran his 93 eclipse GSX as RWD only, was pretty cool, but i liked it better when it was AWD.

at least when you went AWD, you could easily decide to just go RWD if you wanted, and then you could have had a FWD beta, FWD 4g63t, AWD 4g63t, AND RWD 4g63t
