Default Raising redline

What does one have to do to their tranny or engine in order to raise the redline a little bit on a beta? And is the redline ECU controlled or is it mostly internal stuff?

It is ECU controlled. What size engine have you got? Bigger capacity engines should not rev too high unless the have been modified to take it.

The best way is to fit an aftermarket computer, to my knowledge it is the only way. Someone may be able to correct me on this?

Why would you raise the redline? Without mods that support a longer and more consistent power band it's pointless. Not to mention hardened internal so it doesn't combust.

Stroke is to long on this engine with a torque band that is falling off fast at its stock redline. Unless you do cams, headwork, etc dont do it. Piston speeds are way to high anyway. Unless you want to throw an idiotic amount of money at it... leave that alone and focus on something else.. like better airflow/tires/clutch/etc

Agreed.

You'll hit ECU speed cut before you wind out in 5th anyways, and if you want real power it's best to flatten out the torque curve to get more down low.

I have heard the speed cut kicks in around 115/120 or so.

Maybe it's more that you can't overcome drag at that speed with stock hp, so it just brick walls?

03 XD Elantra, plenty of pull left in it (4th gear still).. hits 115, drops 1mph, goes back up, drops 1mph, goes back up. It was very obviously a speed cut.

My non-abs XD has a ring gear on the axle that is listed as being for an "abs equipped" Hyundai. I figured that out when I swapped axles and pulled a CEL. When the light was on it seriously limited my ability to go fast, it dropped the RPM limiter to like 4k. I think those that have that extra sensor (it would be part of the abs if you have that) are probably the hyundais that have the speed limiter.
