Ok b4 people start being smart asses thinking they know everything, one im only 19, live with my dad and his wife, already have 3 other cars in the drivway no room for parts all over the place. And two its not the tranny its the trans axle, the part that comes out of the tranny. You know the ones that spins the tires. And please i dont have time to talk about price its 1800 no lower. And also redz it only lowers the value for dealers b/c they dont wanna worry about what somone might have done to hender the value w/ aftermarket parts. Thanks for the input, its just better if people where more positive to help fellow tibby owners out, instead of talking down all the time.

This still sounds hard for me to believe that its going to cost 1800 to fix this. Are both axles gone or just one. confused???

I understand what the transaxle is. Replace it. Simple.

It lowers the price because it's no longer OEM. Sorry man, it's a fact. The thing is, I know you are trying to sell it here because you can get more for it here, but everyone here knows that it lowers the value of the car too. Especially an import. Just trying to help you out man.

The fact is, EVERYONE is trying to help you out! Why get rid of a car worth a lot more to YOU than that price if it just takes a bit of work to fix it? That's why this site is here. No one talked down to you.

If it's just the axles, dayum, that's even cheaper.

I just went to KBB.com and did your car. I put it as POOR condition, you can't drive it.

Here's what they say.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Private Party Value (no value)</div>

Ouch.

Unfortunately, "Fair" says it has to be in reasonable running condition. Yours isn't.

Well i would keep it, if i new where i could find a resonable price, ive found some in junk yards. But when i here junk yard i here junk, if anyone knows of one iwith very low miles w/ man trans please let me know, if i find one ill keep it. Selling it was the last thing i wanted to do, i guess i felt all other options where out of the question, i also need a painter im def not trying to do it on my own, i mean they could keeep the car as long as they needed. i have a ride so no prob with that. Thanks for the info sorry i blew up. lol. Peace

i'll talk with my folks and see what they have to say. paint? my man has an entire shop over there. junk yards are the way to go though. a car may not be junk if the interior parts are still there.

is the car a 2.0L with a Sunroof? Because I've been looking for a Tiburon that's a stick fully loaded. no foglights isn't a problem either. Basically my car is an Automatic and I need a 5-speed so it might be easier to just swap cars than transmissions. my mechanic has donor tiburons, but it would save a lot of frustration.

swapping trannies yourself is risky when you don't know what should be done now do you have the proper tools and lift.

i'll get back to you soon to see.

I'ts a 2.0, but does not have a sunroof!
I've found junk yards, bt how do i know if engine is internally sound?
If i keep it i would get a targa top on it, my boy in nc does those very good, i was thinking about checking out a del sol to get the latches for the interior, and fabricating the sills. Risking but would look tight.

Well, first thing you need to know is EXACTLY what needs replaced.

Is it the entire tranny?

Is it the diff?

Is it the axels?

A combo of the above?

Anything else?

After you know the exact part, go to www.car-parts.com and look it up for your area. You'd be REALLY suprised how cheap it might be. www.hmaservice.com even has the info you need to replace it.

Even better is that we have over 1500 members, around the world, there's a few close to you and they would probably be willing to come help you swap it out in a few hours.

So, first find out EXACTLY what needs fixed. Then we find the part # and start helping you shop.

It's unlikely the axles are damaged. Just buy a used tranny (can be bought for ~$300), and install it yourself or have a shop install it. Shouldn't be too long. You can easily keep it under $1000.

It's usually not worth it to repair a broken tranny; too time consumming. You're better off with a used tranny.

you dont' want to get a targa top on it. i've seen a pic of a targa top tiburon and it looked hideous. converting into a convertible is the way to go with tibs. but that's a few serious thousand.

lemme know if you're still selling it like in two weeks i will be able to think seriously. right now i'm speculating. it'll give you enough time to decide on your options.

Good point Agarwal, sometimes the Sub Assemblies are MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE ENTIRE MAJOR ASSEMBLY.
