You know, alot of people out there do dumb things when they don't understand how stuff works.
I watched a waitress make coffee when I was 16 years old at my first job. She was new and lazy. There was instructions on the machine to use 1/2 bag of coffee. I watched her use a full bag of coffee with 2 coffee filters thinking it would be the same thing.
I've seen alot of dumb things in my field repairing random pieces of equipment. People look for shortcuts or use what's available all the time. It's not far fetched to think someone put water in their engine as a flush not realizing it wouldn't come right out or thinking about the damage it might cause. Some people are not technical at all and trying to save bucks. I wouldn't expect someone who uses message boards to do something like that because most people who use message boards care enough about how things work to think through untested procedures. There's always an exception to the rules though.
