I dress nicely, $50 Nautica/Ralph Lauren/Stafford/Banana Republic button down shirts, wrinkle free if at all possible, and nice slacks to work every day. Even our executives wear polos and khakis to work, unless it's a board meeting. Banks, Consulting, Lawyers, Public Corporate Executives will wear amazing suits, but when your company runs barges up and down the river and runs large warehouses, suits aren't typical attire. Until I become executive management or interview elsewhere, I won't need a suit for work. I have a nice default set aside if needed.

Haha, my bosses wear shorts and t-shirts unless it's cold outside.

My steel toe boots for work are close to $300. Super light and more comfortable than any shoe I have ever owned. They better be. Some days I spend 15+ hours in them.

I don't own a suit.

If you have an amazing job with high expectations, then yes. If you wear too good of a suit on a normal job, coworkers/bosses will get jealous, suspicious...etc. and will do everything possible to diminish your success and happiness.

your thinking is so dark, dreary, and pessimistic.

Stocker, that blog article, wow. The most annoying part is that I can see their reasoning, but at the same time it is conspicuous consumption in one of its rawest forms. Urgh.

I guess I'll just keep my moral code and my casual job and all of my ramen.

It's a vastly different mindset from my own but I can understand it. In related news that guy must type like a fiend because that would have taken ME all day to bang out on a keyboard.
