I have to go up there for a few days for a work function that they're paying for. I just imagine it being cold and miserable. Anybody ever been way up there? How is it and is it really as miserable as I'm thinking?

Not as bad as Fairbanks. I'm not sure if it's still mostly dark there (winter), but that would make me miserable. Try to enjoy the scenery and go hunting/fishing cause that's what the rest of the country goes there for.

I've only been there in the summer but it was phenomenal. Go to Denali and ride the shuttle bus if it operates this time of year. Matanuska glacier was awesome and not too far but this time of year I wouldn't think that'd be worth it. If you have a clear sky get out of town at night, the northern lights are kind of life changing.
