What would you do?
If your car caught on fire? Even if you had a extinguisher? If the fire was in the engine compartment, how long would you fight it? Before running??
I was just wondering this.

I set a car of mine on fire once. There was a spider on the passenger window. I stopped the car, got a can of starting fluid and lit that little mofo up. Unfortunatly, I lit the car up too. I just sat around and waited for the cops and firemen. =-/ I hate spiders.

I lit the engine in my dodge shadow on fire once, tried to start it with the exhaust disconnected (I was just trying to see if I got the cam timing right, it's a non-interference engine) and it was wrong.... big belch of flame out the exhaust manifold.
Unfortunately there was also a slow fuel leak from the lines into the throttle bosy, and it had pooled with some spilt oil on top of the intake manifold (back of the engine on these cars.
*woosh*. 3' flames.
My fire extinguisher was buried in the back of my other car smile.gif
I ended up dousing it with the garden hose... no other choice, the car was half in the garage, and the garage (wood,of course) had several 2 gallon barrels of lacquer thinner, primer, couple bottles of propane, oxyacetylene set, etc.
I wouldn't have *run* though, car's don't explode like in the movies until they're well engulfed (and even then it's the tires), and by then the fire department (a mile up the road, literally) would have been there.
