Any car type can be sport.

Sport sedan, Sport hatchback, Sport Van etc...

EDIT:
Tiburon could be a hatchback, cause rear (trunk) door is with glass.

Real coupe is sedan with 2 doors.

Nut Tibby's body lines are similar to coupe, that's why everybody call it coupe.

where the hell did sport compact go? i thought thats what everyone called any four burner like a tib or a civic... well if you wanna get technical it IS a coupe, no question about that. but how about an economical sports coupe? i just call her baby...

oh and PS i dont like to call the hatch a "door" because there is no way to open it from the outside unless you have a a electric popper installed. if your going to go by "you can get into the car by it so its a door" then technially a sunroof is a door too. so tibs that came with a sunroof were sedans?

actually i did think of sport compact a little bit ago. i think most car companies quite using "compact car" because it's become to mean piece of crap to a lot of people. hence the use of coupe alot more.

i wouldn't classify it as an economy car, too much power for that. definently an economical car but what 4 banger really isn't? even the evo gets 26 on the highway and thats really good in my mind for a car putting out 271 hp.

You said about coupe, that all 3 doors can be coupe.

Not all coupe are sport btw. For example old mazda 626 with 2 doors is coupe. I can give you a lot of examples.

BTW all pickups have 2 doors, so you mean they are coupe?

BTW2 pickup, also can be a sport car (there is Dodge pickup with Viper's engine)

That's why I made that comment...I was being sarcastic....Just because there's a van with the word sport in the title doesn't mean it's a sports car...

In my opinion.. the Tiburon qualifies to the LETTER the defination of the word "Coupe." The word Coupe is derived from the french meaning "to cut" Meaning it is a sporty car built on the cut (shortened) chassis of a mainstream sedan.

The Tiburon IS built on the same platform as the Elantra... but with a slightly smaller wheelbase. This then is indeed A "Coupe"

^^ wink1.gif The meaning of the word "coupe" I never knew. I think Mad has this thing figured out.

I would definately consider the Tib an economy car. The average quarter-mile time for cars made in the year 2000 was 15.8. So the Tib is slow compared to most other vehicles on the road.

I would define hatchback as a car that has 3 or 5 door and has a trunk-door like on VW Golf.

I would define coupe as a car that has 2 or 3 doors and have trunk shape like on sedan (Tiburon, BMW 845, Eclipse etc)
