Welcome To America......
Subject: This is our land- if you don't like leave!
This is an Editorial written by an American citizen, published in
a local Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he?
----------------------------------------------------
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation
worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their
culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a
surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from
the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd
began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was
offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our
population is almost entirely composed of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our
country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of
America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our
sovereignty and our national
identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our
own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles,
trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought
freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish
to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some
Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because
Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation,
and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display
it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part
of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle
Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this
planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we
really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR
COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every
citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every
opportunity to do so. But, once you are done complaining, whining, and
griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of
life, I highly
encourage you to take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE
RIGHT TO LEAVE.

Looks like someone forgot about the first amendment.
Freedom of religion gives you the freedom to follow any religion you desire, which includes the desire to not believe in a god. Regardless of who founded this country, they still provided everyone with the right to disagree when it comes to religion... that's a beautiful thing.

Actually, No.. No one did.. If ANYTHING, we are expressing what we feel is correct. Everyone has a right to their opinion.. And Mine (and seems like a few others) seems to be that we are Americans.. I have nothing against other religions
aces, because they can worship what and whoever they want.. The people I have a problem with are the ones that think that just because they are Yellow and believe in Sacred Hamsters, they want special treatment.. THE TRUTH IS this country was founded by Christians, and therefore THEY set the base of the country based on Religion.. If you wanna say I forgot about the First Amendment, DO NOT FORGET that is a two way street.. The difference is HOW you express yourself. Just because you have the RIGHT to believe in what you want, DOES NOT EVER MEAN you can discriminate against other religions. I don't go to Japan and say I am a Southern Baptist (I am Not).. IF I did, I would NEVER expect special treatment because of it.
BESIDES this isn't even a Religious Post.. It is a Country Pride Post. It is more saying if you cannot RESPECT our culture, then we are not going to respect yours.
You have a right to your opinion, as am I.. And I will shand by what I post and say until we get taken over by Greenland.. smile.gif

Well said. I have ALWAYS had a problem with our country's "seperation of church and state" yet we mention god in court, on our money, and in most of our original founding documents, hell, our president has been mentioning God a lot in his public speeches lately!

I'm not trying to start an arguement or put down anyone's beliefs I'm just an incredibly strong supporter of the first amendment. His paper/editorial mentions the word Christianity a little too often for me. Whether or not the country was founded by Christians/Muslims/Buddhists I'm not sure of, and don't see it as being relative.
The only time I've ever heard of a religous group complaining about anything is when school's try to introduce religion into their programs.
And I agree with random, Church and State should be more separate than they are know. Either that or our money and pledge of allegiance should be changed to God/Allah/Buddha/etc for "equal" respect and treatment.
(How often do you hear this rhetoric from a baptized Catholic?)

first amendment also allows us to speak WHAT EVER LANGUAGE we want,...
If you pay close attention "american english" has been modified because of all the different languages and cultures in america.
I believe the author might have ran into an immigrant who really didnt give a **** about the US.
Around here, and through experience,... ive noticed that immigrants seem to be much happier to be in america, than americans. Most americans take things for granted since theyve never endured the pain and agony other countries inflict upon there citizens. Immigrants know the difference, since theyve lived in both worlds.
Of coarse there are exceptions,... you always run into knuckleheads who just give immigrants a very bad rep
Politically correct crowd???
Why is this guy mad,... its americans that are complaining not immigrants.
Immigrants hate politics, thats why most are here to begin with. tongue.gif
Unless you are a native american,... you really cant say anything. Everyone migrated at one time or another. rolleyes.gif
This was however a good essay,... i dont agree with it 100%, but it is well written.
