If you want beach in Maine, have only 2 real options. Kennebunkport/Ogunquit/Wells area which is expensive and hard to find a place to stay in August. That's more of the "high end" area, with shopping and good restaurants.
Then there's Old Orchard Beach or OOB. That's the tourist spot. It's pretty busy, but it only takes a few minutes to get away from all that if you want. There's clubs there and an amusement park. It's also close to another amusement park and waterpark, Funtown and Aquaboggin if that's your thing. About 20 mins away is the Maine Mall and about 1 million restaurants. And about 30 mins away is Portland's famous Old Port. Which is a section of town that has cobble stone streets lined with all different kinds of shops and at night all the shops close and the bars open. There's about 100 different bars to suite any taste and they are all crammed into about a 3 block area. Tons of action there.

In NJ, a lot of the vacationers go to the beach spots. I like Wildwood, Cape May because its really nice and historic and its not as populated as like for say Seaside Heights. Dont go there now (Seaside) unless you like to see tons of young people and crowds.

lol. damn straight. half my family lives out there though. out in Falmouth, E. Falmouth and Mashpee. also my grandmother owns a cottage on the Vineyard. i go out there like once a year and i love it... but, i prolly wouldn't wanna live there (especially in the summer). it gets too busy for me.

did you mean MD?

ocean city, md is a great place. just dont go this week or next, senior week will make it impossible to get a room. the further away fromt he boardwalk you are, the less crowded. i personally recommend the quality inn on 54th(maybe56th, cant remember) street. it has an awesome tropical rainforest setup inside, with a bar. parots and lizards and shit all over the place. boardwalk starts on 30 something street, and goes down before 1st a little ways.

depends on what you want the Jersey Shore.

Atlantic City: ok beaches, casinos, lots of bars, casinos, food, and casinos. Did I mention they have casinos? They also have a decent aquarium that offers marsh, beach, and ocean excursions. Try and avoid wandering off of the boardwalk and casino area. Some parts can be and are dangerous. It has gotten better since they started flattening city blocks worth of empty homes.

Avalon: high end town, high end prices. Nice beaches, Expensive resturants and bars. good nightlife though.

Brigantine: Beaches, a few bars. Across the bridge from Atlantic City, no mainland access.. you must go through AC to get there.

Cape May: Turn of the century (19th century) charm, good shopping, nice beaches, decent bar scene. can be expensive, but you can get some nice rooms at the numerous bed and breakfasts there. There are a couple of whale watching boats here. Also home to the ONLY Coast Guard Training Base. Good if you are military or retired from the Military.

Long Port: nothing to really do here. This is an expensive town. Best bet is to drive through it AT THE SPEED LIMIT! You WILL get pulled over for speeding here. Thankfully it is a small town, but it is at the end of Absecon Island, the same island that houses AC, Margate, and Ventnor. You have to go through it to get to Ocean City and points south from Atlantic City (unless you want to try getting lost on the mainland)

Lower Township: this is technically a mainland township (there are four townships in Cape May County) but it also shares the Island with Cape May and Cape May Point. housing can be cheap here, but there is not much to do. Cheap enough to stay here and commute to Wild Wood or Cape May. Home to an EXCELLANT Bird Sanctuary and the Cape May and Lewis (deleware) ferry that is a 90 minute trip across the mouth of the deleware river. Also home to "cold spring village" an historic recreation site that offers a glimpse into life at the Jersey shore from over a hundred years ago.

Margate: On the same Island as Atlantic City, Ventnor, and Long Port, this place is the hopping place for nightlife and bars. Along the "barbary coast" on the bay side, there are many bars, from highend to low. "memories in margate" is home to the infamous Jerry Blavit. The "geeter with the heater" a member of the philidelphia crime family, he throws quite an old school party on friday and saturday nights (if you can get in and do not mind oldies music)

North Wild Wood: A small sleepy little family town that shares the island with Wildwood. Not much here, Large and clean beaches. A few nice bars. They are cracking down on partying.

Ocean City: bills itself as "america's greatest family resort" recentlyly trying to catch up on OC MD in the number of condos. Except for Wildwood and the lone pier in AC.. this is one of the few places to have rides and a boardwalk worth visiting. Good resturants. NO NIGHTLIFE OR BARS. this is a dry town. usually VERY crowded on summer weekends. Excellant Beaches. Good shopping both on and off the boardwalk

Sea Isle: Next island down from OC. a small "board walk" not worth visiting. Lots of bars, lots of resturants. Lower end in prices and quality, but still lots of fun. Decent to Ok beaches

South Cape May: Also sharing the island with Cape May and Lower Township. This is a sleepy little town who's claim to fame is the Lighthouse on the point and the "cement ship" that is actually the SS Atlantis. A WW1 freighter that was made of portland cement when steel was scarce. It was supposed to be made into a dock for the Ferry in Lower Township, but it broke loose in a storm before it could be properly sunk, rank aground and sank at Cape May point. While mostly gone from view anymore, the small beach there offers a nice place to find "Cape May Diamonds" Also home to Lake Lily, a spring fed, freshwater lake not half a mile from the ocean.

Stone Harbor: On the same Island as Avalon. This town is a slightly lower class than high class Avalon. This still means that it is expensive. Good bars, good resturants. Nice beaches. Decent Shopping. Also has a nice bird Sanctuary and an excellant Centre on birding.

Strathmere: shares the island with Sea Isle City: NOTHING.. ok beaches, but with no municiple services, they are generally in a shabby and "original" shape. often floods during storms.

Ventnor: A town on the same island as AC, Margate, and Long Port. quiet and sleepy, they offer some boardwalk (with nothing on it) a decent beach, and a few bars.

Wild Wood. This is the party town, but do not think of partying wild here if you are underage. They will bust your party and take you all to court. HUGE Beaches (people die of thirst and dehydration between the water and the boardwalk.. also very nice and clean beaches as well. RIDES. Wildwood has several piers of thrill rides.. also a couple of decent go cart tracks and water parks. LOTS of bars, resturants, and things to do. Not as expensive as avalon, stoneharbor, or Ocean City, but more so than Sea Isle and strathmere.

If you like fishing.. all of the above offer deepsea fishing.

Other interesting places are:

Absecon: small family town on the mainland, a few good bars and diners.

Besleys point. Across from Somers point, it has a lone (and good) resturant and an excellant place to go jet skiiing.

Linwood: Quiet town, nothing goes on here.

North Field: On the mainland. A couple of good bars, decent resurants. otherwise a quiet town.

Pleasantville: do not go here. Dangerous little town to do more than just drive through on the way to Atlantic City

Somers Point. Names for Richard Somers, one of the heros of the Battle of Tripoli. His mansion still stands and you can take a tour. Quite a few bars, cheap hotels, and resturants.

Wild Wood Crest is mostly mainland.. what little bit of shore it has is dominated by the Coast Guard Base across the harbor in Cape May. There used to be a semi-tall ship there that could take you out for a three hour tour for your hard earned dollars.

As you are under 21.. definatly no partying in Wild Wood.. they WILL haul your arse to jail. They are doing their best to counteract the reputation they have as a party town.
