Crucial is a well-known RAM manufacturer, so yeah it's good.
Look around for better deals, I think I paid something less than $60 for 4Gb. Try looking on www.dealstobuy.com for a few days, a good deal usually shows up there.

I even checked for you, there's actually a deal right now: 2GB Crucial for $37.99 with a $20 REBATE! (so final price $17.99). Here's the link, but check if first if that will work on your laptop:

Working in the IT field, it its probably one of the only memory MFG that we buy from and recommend to anyone. They pre test and stress the memory before it leaves the plant so the number of dead memory sticks from them is almost Zero. Crappy or cheap memory will cause random freezes, program crashes and all around a shitty computer experience trying to always figure out whats wrong with your computer.

what they said, Crucial is great.

Even though I prefer Geil I use Crucial as it's cheaper and easier to find!

512MB to 2GB?

I'd make sure your motherboard is expandable to the 2GB, then buy from Crucial.

If I'm not mistaken you can put you laptop model into a search on crucial.com and it will tell you exactly what ram you need as well as how much your laptop can handle per dimm

And since im bored at work http://crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?mo...Inspiron%206000 each dimm can only handle 1gb for a max of 2gb in your system. They have on crucial (click that link!) a 2gb kit (2 1gb dimms) for $38
