Hyundai is known for "borrowing" designs and features from other cars. I guess we know where they got the idea for the front end styling of the old Tib's

^I partially agree to that, but they do have a lot of originality too. They do copy cars, only to grab a bite out of their market share by improving the value.
Personally, I think the Tiburon offered a bigger, better car for the money than the Celica.
The first Tiburons built upon the Scoupe:
Then later off of the HCD series, which date back to 1991. The HCDI was a pioneer that broke design boundaries ahead of most every company.
The front end of the Tiburon comes from the HCDII, which debuted in 1993, so it couldn't have been copied from any other car:
The original Tiburon design appears to be all-original, on a heavily restyled Celica body. The 2000 Tiburon is from the 1994 Celica. That was a distasteful move. It just looks bug-eyed and googly.
