Just had a really nice day out.

There's a guy that I know from my car club/forum and we have been saying we would meet up and have a laugh for ages.

So today I went to see my father in law and step sister and step mother and etc and then headed up to Egg Harbor to meet with Art, AKA "mad-machine"

Art used to drive a Tiburon, but sadly he totalled it a couple of months ago, he now has a nice hatched bimmer with sick M3 rims on it. Very nice car.

So I drove to East Bay crabs and met him there.. I decided to drive.. I dont know why.. Maybe I figured if I gave Art some Tib flava that he might consider getting another one lol laugh.gif

So we drove to Art's lock up, he has an old fiat from the 70's.

I would say it looks alot like a Triumph Stag and a MGB, only sharper lines than a MGB.
Ok so now Im muddling words, it looks like a little ragtop from the 70's lol.

So after looking at that, and an old caddy (thats a bit FUBAR) we decided to hit the casinos.

I only spent $35. I have to be careful with cash right now. So mine didnt last long on the slots, Art however had some results and dropped in 3 red 7's, for about $80 (he started with $50 and decided, quite rightly IMO to call it a day there.)

So we set off back for East Bay and Art came up with the idea of eating. Damn, eating LMAO I think I forgot what that is lol.

So we went down toward the chinese buffet but we went in the wrong direction. I gotta say it was really nice to be kicking around in that area of NJ again. My wife and I used to go there alot when we lived with her father. When I last went with my wife they were building up a newish stripmall (adding on and stuff) and this time it was all finished, so I said to Art "hey man let's head off down there) and off we went.

Gave the Tib a little bit of throttle, Art's response was "wow I forgot how awesome that CAI sounds and the growl.. I really miss that, the BMW sounds so mechanical" and he's right, the drop and growl of a Tib even with a standard pipe and manifold is really a joy to behold, what a wonderful sounding engine they have smile.gif

Trans wasnt very problematic today, it pretty much did what it's supposed to for the near 180 miles I drove for today... So we decided to hit up this barbeque joint.. Daves something? not sure.. It was new but we both said "Ive heard really good things about that place !" at the same time lol.

I got pulled pork (im just waiting for the gas to arrive) and Art got BBQ chicken with a corn cake.. I talked about how my wife always ate my corncakes lol.

Left there, went back to East Bay to round off the evening (around 9:30) and had a look over the bimmer.. The rims are gorgeous. Theyre the M3 ones with "BMW MOTORSPORT" around the outer edges.. Now this car is still in early progress but looks like it's going to be a stunning little car when done. Clear corners, lovely color (that magenta color that they made the 93 sapphire sierra cosworths in) and pretty clean. Few small dents here and there but nothing to get worried over. Nice little accents in paint on the engine and a dry cell battery that was tidier than I imagined them to be.

With that we shook hands and promised to get together soon, just not the casino again.. I dont think I could afford it anyway lol.

Overall a very nice chap. I did feel a bit nervous because of my anxiety but thoroughly enjoyed the meet.

Any other Tibbers out there in NJ south? let us know, you can kick back with us next time smile.gif

that's awesome yeah i remember you saying that you were going to meet up with him. he's a really cool guy and knows ALOT about the history of cars and i think is known for posting very complete easy to read posts so i guess that says something about his personality. his fiat convertible is lovely, i wish he'd finish it up soon.

mad (M&M) you're an awesome guy who replies to all of the posts i create that are mostly boring or non comprehensive due to being such irrational distant topics like the history behind SEAT, Cosworth Ford, or WRC rules and pininfarina and Italdesign. i'm sorry for your tiburon again but you just keep saving your money. 2009 tiburon will be out in no time. for now, that BMW M3 conversion is going to be sick!!

i made a lot of friends here and i've even met one of the moderators from this forum Odessitpashka, who happened to be exactly my age, lives 35 mins from my house, a neighbor of my home country in europe, and share the same hobbies. i still consider him to be a good friend rather than just a friend even though i've only met up with him twice since he sold his tiburon ( mad.gif ) but it's amazing how much more these cars give us rather than looks.

Art is a really cool guy. We met up at a local car wash down here in Egg Harbor Township. From what I remember, his Tiburon was pretty awesome.

Geez, I wake up to this....

Anyway, thanks Pandy for the good time last night. It definatly looked like you needed some time away from your troubles and maybe to vent a little.

As he spoke such nice things about my Bimmer.. about his tib.

I personally did not know an autotragic could pull so well. There was one moment when we pulled out into traffic (which I would not have done with my manual bmw) where it hesitated between upshifting or downshifting for more power. Thankfully it thought better of it downshifted and kept us out of trouble.

It looks pretty good, even for all the "trouble spots" that Pandy showed me. For a 98, it looked damn fine. Made me wish my 99 had been an Fx instead of the base model.

If you manage to stick around the states Pandy, I definatly want to see that car cleaned up and hooked up. Even if you are "turning into a lazy american" and don't want to shift anymore.

As for how he looks, I never make judgements on how people look either over the phone or online, so I cannot say that Pandy (andy) looks any different or not from how I imagined him, because I didn't imagine him at all. (he's quite real!)

That caddy in my rented garage is going to save my arse this winter. The last tenet stopped paying the rent on it some six months before I picked it up.. so that make it about 10 months. The owner of the Garage said yesterday that it is mine to deal with as I please. As it is a '72 convertable (and about twice the size of my spider) that is all rotted to hell, but with a perfect interior and most of it's (hard to find) trim.. I am going to strip it and put it on ebay.

Next time, we take my bimmer out. Not as hard core as your tib, but I like a little comfort with my performance... which bmws are very good at.

I was wondering where Star disappeared to. He used to have quite a nice little elantra.
