when i was with progressive insurance I was involved in a hit and run and the driver ended up not having insurance. my insurance covered all the costs involved and never had me pay the deductible and I had a 500 ded.

once I got the guy in court he made monthly payments to me and i forwarded the money to my insurance company, never showed on my driving record either.

That really doesn't look that bad considering he hit you doing 40. It'll probably be bumper cover, bumper reinforcement bar, bumper absorber, a couple tail lights and a lock cylinder, along with some unibody straightening. All of that is considered minor stuff.

if the guy took off then you most likely aren't payin anything... and he could (and should) face jailtime

good luck

Sorry for the delay in an update guys

Here it goes....still sore as hell. I got the Tib looked at by my adjuster and the visible damages come out to ~$1300, he figures that will go up a little when they get everything taken apart. I got a form from the Wisconsin DOT that makes it appear that the Sheriff found the other party and he did not carry insurance. The form gets filled out and he has 90 days to prove settlement or he loses his license and registration (and ability to register new vehicles) until he provides proof of settlement. I was able to look him up on a search website, so taking him to small claims to recover damages should not be a problem. Hatch looks okay according to the adjuster so I plan on having it fixed in the very near future, I am going to wait for the report from the Sheriff first, it should be available Monday

Will let you know more once things develop further
Ericy, I will keep you posted, we still havent gotten together to chill, and we live in the same town.....

damn jon. pay for my flight and i'll hit yo ass for 200k, we'll split it 50-50 and you can deduct the costs of plane ticket from my 50. smokay? cool.gif

So, were you stopped and the blazer was doing ~40? Or were you doing 40 on the interstate and the blazer was going much faster?

I've been hit at a standstill from behind before, it's a jolt but wasn't really that bad. Our cars suck, damage-wise in anything over 5mph. G'luck with the small claims, I hate punks like this guy that hit you..
