Survived Katrina...now In St Louis!
#1
Thanks to the couple folks who sent PMs asking if I made it okay. We did fine...it was amazing. We watched houses 100 feet away get ripped to shreds by falling trees but we came out with no damage except our fence in the back. No home or car damage thankfully.
What a crazy experience that was. We basically spent the following week walking and climbing over trees and light poles for miles to check on family, and sitting on the front porch at night with a couple neighbors, some warm beer and my 12 gauge.
Last Tuesday I got the call from my employer (USCG) that we had relocated to St. Louis. So here we are, set up in a nice apartment. Really enjoying the city so far. It sucks being up here because our house is fine and we got power back yesterday according to the neighbors. But since the Coast Guard is paying for everything I guess we can't complain. We just look at it as an extended vacation. Probably be up here another month at least.
