You must have a password to get in. To get in, you must email one of the moderators of that forum and request access. Basically, that forum will be for only the members who truly contain expert knowledge in specific fields.

Have you ever thought about a graduated level of membership. I mean, you could allow people to view posts but they could only make posts after MODS/ADMINS give them permission. Just an idea....

Once the Shark Pool is up and running, it will be visable to all members, but you will have to be a shark pool member to post in the forum.
For now, It is a private forum.

I know I'm still not that knowledgeable, but I do like to learn, so I was gonna ask that I be able to view that forum, but not have any posting access would be fine with me, just as long as I can read it to learn more.

Sorry, I never answered this question.
I'm not 100% sure what's Red's critera are, but mine personally are whoever sends me $100! (just kidding).
My critera is one part knowledge, one part personaltity. You have to have a good knowledge of automotive systems, but also have a willingness to share knowledge and educate others, a willingness to continue learning, and a willingness to experiment.
Shark Pool membership is not "free". As a group, we will discuss "projects" and "assignments" will be passed out to members. Granted...no one will be FORCED to do any work if they don't want, but I HOPE that we will all come up with projects that will benefit all, and projects that folks will WANT to work on.

Actually, I don't own the site, so Random can put whoever he wants in there. I figure it will be a learning curve for who to invite, starting on the pessimistic side for the moment.
I would generally expect it to get a little thick and nerdy in there, meaning it may not be a happy nice place to read for people who are new to performance or engines in general.
Still, it will still be a fairly low volume forum. And those of us who hang out in there will also be out and about in the other forums answering the other questions as well; it's not like we're gonna hide in there. smile.gif
