You do have to pay for the xbox live service inorder to go online.

Click Me!
That tells you how to set up internet connection sharing between a pc and the xbox.

If you setup your laptop to allow connections through it, yes you can. If you select your wireless internet connector, it's under one of the advanced wireless connection tabs, don't remember which one off the top of my head... But yes, you can.

You can also do it through a wireless network adaptor, they just cost more money, but they are alot more convenient.

Yup.

Yup.

Yup.

LOL

It's not expensive if you actually LOOK for the good deals.

http://www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-live-12-m.../201975268.html

13 months for $39 shipped.

That's VERY worth it.

As for your connection, skip the laptop AND skip the Microsoft 360 Wireless adapter, it connects via USB and is slower than an ethernet wireless hookup.

If you are a hard core gamer though and really want the quickest connection, ignore the wireless stuff and move your modem to where your 360 is, and do wireless cards for your computers. I did this and have never looked back.

if you MUST do wireless, get one like this...

^^^
I've still got one of these and use it on one of my PC's. Works fantastically.

another ghetto way to get on live, which i did at my old apartment.. worked VERY good..

accessed a wireless network at the apt below me to get net to the laptop... then hooked up a ethernet cable from the laptop to the xbox, and bridged the connections.

so for free, i could be on live, while the girlfriend was on the internet at the same time o.O

xbox live silver is free, but pretty pointless.

right now, i am running my xbox hard wired into the router.. works the best that way.

If you were a hard core gamer you wouldn't want any of your systems on wireless tongue.gif

If hes looking for the cheapest route using windows internet connection sharing would be the cheapest because its free. The xbox connects to the RJ45 jack on the back of the laptop and the laptop connects to the wireless network via its wireless card. If your laptop doesn't have a wireless card, I would suggest getting of the gaming adapters Red Z mentioned.

Sometimes moving the modem isn't the most ideal situation

I don't game on my PC's, as PC gaming is gay and full of hackers.
