pat I am going to call b.s. on $1000 a month for a $200,000 house. I bought a $150,000 house with a 5.9% interest rate and pay 1016 a month( with insurance and property tax in the loan). a 200,000 loan will cost roughly 1186 (before tax and insurance)a month if you get a 5.9% interest rate. plus most of the time you also have your home owners insurance payment in there with property tax as well (tax if applicable in your state).
Pat be careful buying a house they will tell you what you need to hear so you buy. There are extras things that will come into play with your payment.

I knowz. roughly $1000 for the mortgage alone. another $100ish for the escrow account to cover taxes when the time comes and home owners insurance.
i am doing my research..
there IS a catch. I will be paying interest alone for the first 10 years. So basically if I decide to sell at 9 years I will have paid into this house nothing at all, I will still owe the full amount of the loan (but houses are rising in prices 10x fold in the area I am buying, it' crazy development shit..)

Socks even if you just moved away from Detroit you'd be in better shape. Up here in GR the job market is quite a bit better then over there. The west side is expanding more then the east side is.

Minneapolis...
Property has just recently become a buyer's market, after rising over 100% in the past few years, it's finally coming down. And there's plenty of jobs. Not too far from home for you. fing02.gif Big ricer scene also.

Blistiering hot?
You are nuts. Albuquerque sits in the high 80's to mid 90's for about 3 months of the summer, but with NO humidity, it's completely bearable. 100 degrees, will happen a couple of times a year, but 100 here is equal to your 80 degrees and 100% humidity, but it STILL sucks less.
The job market is HUGE out here, I showed you that stuff before with it being rated as the Smartest Place to Live, and Best City to Open a Business.
There are TONS of Autocad jobs, I told you about a few of them the other day.
