Since its an overhead cam engine you can pretty much see the camshaft through the hole. It probably got sucked on from the crankcase and pulled it around the camshaft, leading to total poonage of his engine if it got on there bad enough.

Couldn't he just take the valve cover off and if it's wrapped around the cam yank it off all in mostly one piece, then get an engine flush to eat away all the fibers?
I sorta feel bad for the guy ..he's now famous in just about every car club, lol.
