*Note: Copy and paste from my LJ.

I was driving on Rt. 35 North and getting onto the spur to get back onto Rt. 88 West. I was in the left middle lane and some brown chevy blazer was in the left lane, about 2 car lengths behind me. I put my blinker on to get into the left lane so I could get into the spur (the left lane and left middle lane merged) and CRUNCH/BAM/SLIDE. I was hit. I pulled over not knowing if it was my fault or the other guy's fault, so that we could call the cops and straighten things out. The f***er SPED away. He went up to the traffic light a block up, turned right, and sped through stop signs. I couldn't see the license plate or the driver because, they just sped away. At least he could have had the common f***ing decency to pull over, such as I did. But no, how much you want to be he was a broke-ass, had no insurance, had no license, was in a stolen vehicle, or had drugs on him? Hmmm. And I couldn't chase after him since I was already IN the spur when he hit me... he was right on the outside. I looked at the damage to my car... oh... God... why?

My driver's side door has been pushed up, out of alignment. It makes a creaky noise when it opens/closes and it shakes when I drive. The back piece where the tires are is punched in. You could see the actual METAL of my car since paint came off. Dents, scrapes, scariness. The brown blazer's BROWN PAINT is STILL ON MY CAR. I got pictures, so I'll show you in a bit.

Now, some people in an Eclipse pulled over for us and talked to the cops when I called them. One cop came and took down info. The cop talked to the other people, and then back-up came. Some girls in the parking lot of a convenience store right next to the spur told us they saw where the blazer went. We told the cops that. The back-up cop and the people from the Eclipse left. The cop said I can come tomorrow to pick up the police report for insurance purposes or whatever. They sent out a message to all units to keep an eye out for the blazer too. So after that all, we went to Ron's Wawa and visited him. I told him to look at my car and his eyes widened and he went "HOLY SHIT, WHAT'D YOU DO TO YOUR CAR NOW?!"... oddly, I did nothing. We went to Wendy's and came back and gave Ron food. He looked at it close-up. I have 3 pieces of my car that need to be replaced.

Here are pictures and a diagram of the incident:

I would just post the pics here, but I figured it's too many to load for a single post.

So not only did I slice my finger open at work on Saturday, having to be rushed to the ER for stitches and losing 3 days of work... but now this.

Yeah, I so know that. My dad took a look and estimated about $2,000 - $3,000, since he used to work on cars. My insurance is a Godsend though. My deductible is $500, and it covers hit-and-runs such as this. I'm also glad myself and my 2 friends are okay. That's the last thing I need... another trip to the hospital.

Geeze, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. Luckly you were not hurt (in the accident atleist) and the police have some info/witnesses to go off of. They will catch the person. He will be paying your deductable. On the bright side, your tibby will get 1/2 a spray job smile.gif

Damn... Now they just have to find a Brown Blazer with Tiburon paint on it. I usually speed up and get like 4-5 carlengths ahead of someone before I jump ahead of them, but I guess thats how you darn city folks drive.

Oh, the Tibby will get an entirely new paint job. I figured if I have to take it into the body shop for this, I might as well get the rest of dings/scratches/whatevers out that were on BEFORE I bought it.

I was 2 car lengths ahead of the guy, which for NJ folks anyway, is usually more than enough. He sped up as I was entering the lane. Go figure. I don't know what the f*** he was doing/thinking. If he had his blinker on to CHANGE LANES, like I DID, we wouldn't have had this problem.

The Tib handled pretty well actually, which is why I didn't think the damage was too bad... until I looked. 02.gif I didn't get pushed really... I just felt another car hit me as we were both moving. I don't know... maybe you get it.

I hope they find that guy. When I get my police report tomorrow, I'm going to give them these photos and especially give them (on photo paper too) the ones of his brown paint. Maybe that will give them something.

Im sure tehy can catch the guy if the dont just blow the accident off. I eman sure its a big area youre by but if they look it shouldnt be too tough to find a brown blazer with your paint on it. Anyway good luck with everything and let us know how it all goes.

unfortunatly, if you have never driven in NJ... you have no idea how bad the traffic can be. According to the US Census, there are enough people in EVERY county of NJ for the entire state to qualify as an urban area... which amazes me because Cape May, Atlantic, Cumberland, and Burlington counties are mostly empty space.

Toxic, sorry about what happened to you car... and what happened to your finger. Considering you were hit by a LARGE SUV, the damage does not look that bad at all. Here is to hoping everything works out ok with your insurance.
