I saw a magazine that showed a sketch of the new 2002 Tib. Yes, it will offer the V6 engine and also, it seems to have been restyled. This includes modifying the front end. Like the Mercedes, the Tibby high and low beams scrunch closer and share one glass. Also there appears to be some vents in the doors. I am not sure how accurate this drawing is.

The 2002 Tibby is NOT a V6 and is NOT 195 HP.
That is the 2003 Tiburon. It will finally show at the Frankfurt Auto Show in september, so don't expect it in the USA any earlier than March of 2003.

You sure Random? I was just at the dealership and my salesman was telling me about how they just had a meeting talking about the V6's coming out this Dec. I'd rather see it in 2003, by then Hyundai's image will be better.

The dealers are currently selling Tiburons and calling THEM 2002. So the "GK/Tuscani" would be a 2002 1/2 at best even if it came out in December. It would make more sense for Hyundai to wait till 2003 and do a proper ad campign for the car...but then again, given the quality and frequency of their current ads...they might not.
The US auto Show Circut doesn't start up Till January...so it makes more sense for them to debut the car at the first auto show to gauge consumer and press reaction to the car, in case a quick minor revamp is necessary. The Prototypes are here in the USA, and many have seen them, but expect the car to debut at the Frankfurt show first, then in Korea for sale...then the USA. I just dont see how they can do all that and get it to the USA shores to get them to dealerships by December.

I understand what your saying Random, and for Hyundai's sake I hope your right. A lot of critics are saying they have finnally dropped the old image of cheap, poorly made cars, and are now up to Japanese quality. And if they wait another year or two more people will start to see that.

I was reading a "Car & Driver" type mag. the other day, and it said that no 2002 models will be released as they are waiting for the 2003 GK/Tuscani to debut in the Frankfurt Auto Show. They said those models should be in the US in Feb. or March of 2003. I'm not really sure how accurate the mag. was, but it seems like there are a lot of stories going around.

Well the dealerships have 2002 Tiburons, and they are MAP equiped Beta Engines like the 2001-2002 Elantras. No way Hyundai can claim those AREN'T 2002's....
If the GK hits our shores by Feb.March...that STILL makes it a 2002.5 at best, or a early 2003....
With Hyundai's Revision A tiburons out there, I would wait for the REAL 2003's to hit the dealer showroom floors before buying one.

Heheheh... the GK will be released in Korea in less than two weeks... Just saw a full page ad in the paper, plus full-fledged ad campaign on TV... So, for Korea, it is a 2002. I would guess that Hyundai is gonna release it in the US later this year, or early next year...
