most of the time plowing itself takes care of business. they're definitely on top every year. they get my street at least 15 times a day. but i've noticed over the recent years they've stopped using so much salt, and completely stopped using gravel altogether!! weird given that they've always used it!
we have salt too, you can see huge piles in Baltimore near the harbor. they only use it on busy streets going into D.C. like New Hampshire, Connecticut Ave, Pennsylvania Ave..etc. i've never seen salt on i95 though. definitely not as much as N.Y.C./Jersey and Canada though!! do they even have a budget for that?
all this action will really create some nasty nasty pottyholes.

At least they plow there. If we get snow here we're pretty much on our own if we're not on a critical street or highway. That's the only reason it sucks so much here when it snows.
If we got snow like you guys have, literally thousands of people would die.

Dont get me started on potholes. NY is pothole central! Every time I drive, I feel like Im autocrossing because I have to swerve every 10 seconds to avoid falling into craters.
They dont start patching until around the end of March/beginning of April!

It was in the 60's on saturday when I was at the lake. It's 48 degrees right now with clear skies. And it will be 60 degrees and clear skies on Saturday when I'm on the boat again.
This was taken mid December, and could have been this month too:
