The 'funding' crisis will catch up with us as well. This article was somewhat interesting, but we aren't the only government bailing people out, it's happening across the world - we're not alone in this recession. Hopefully the value of the U.S. dollar won't sink too low with all this extra money we're printing.

This will hopefully turn out to be a good couple of years for me personally. Last year, I saw my 401(k) lose 45%. That sucks, obviously, but it will recover over time. I don't have much in there, I lost maybe $3,000, but I decided to increase my contributions last November when everything hit rock bottom. So far I have 15% YTD Rate of Return in my 401(k). Given my increase in contributions on top of that, I have more in my 401(k) than ever. Since April 1, I have increased my balance by $4,000 (including company matching).

I only wish I had researched it more a few months ago, and figured out how to purchase $2,000 worth of AMD @ $2/share. They're at $4.82 today, which would have given me nearly $4,500 at selling.

LOL keep an eye on it. I put mine in bonds at 8200 on the way down and missed the runup because I don't care enough to stay on top of it (it's mad money to me, all from my ex-company AFTER they fired me, I never put a dime in)

Like I said I'm waiting for the double dip. The bottom of THAT will be the place to get back into stocks. I have had the feeling for a while now that we are cresting the current rally.

I moved mine out of the stable area last week and into the growth and international funds. Doing good right now, looking to make a few hundred bucks back today hopefully. Dow is up 250 points today. I'll ride it up, then set my boundaries on when to switch to more stable investments.

I'll think we'll be cresting for a little while at least, through summer and hopefully reach the 10,000 mark.

That's what I mean: you want to make lots of money easy, you have to follow it. I'd rather set it for a quarter or 6 months and not look at it again. My loss I know, but there are so many other things in play with the economy right now, it's looking like my $3k ain't doing much for me when I'm 65.
