Okay, there's been a lot of off_topi discussion about RATINGS, and I've even gotten a few emails about it.
First off. If you want to, you can disable your rating. This means that people cannot vote on you, and your rating doesn't show. Folks who are upset/don't want to particpate in the ratings sytem, this is for you.
The ratings are decided on by YOU...the members. You vote or "rate" other members. Anywhere from 1 to 5 stars. Over time, folks should end up with a rating that reflects the forums opinion of that "poster".
There are going to be people who have a "bad" rating, just because of their posting "personality" or style, even though they contribute to the online community.
Most people seem not to use it or not care about in. In the 3 years this board has been around, only 152 people have "rated" me.
It's not a perfect system, but it's all we got.
No, you can't tell who "rated" you. No, I can't tell who rated you. I can't even tell who "rated" me. Just be yourself, try to help people when you can, and don't loose sleep over it.

I don't however understand why you can't tell who rated you??
They system was designed to be anonymous. So folks could rate eachother without fear of reprisal, or flame posts starting up HEY, tiburonium...why'd you give me a a 1? type thing.I don't however understand why you can't tell who rated you??
Because the system is anonymous, I can't tell who rated who. If I hacked the code of the board, I could proably get that info, but quite franky, I've got other things to do.

I think I've rated 3 people ever... I think I read this forum enough to know how people act, and then I just act accordingly to any given situation, no need for rankings for me, but I'm not going to disable it, I'm happy with my 3, haha

#1. Asking people to vote for you generally means people will give you a bad rating.
#2. Post whoring annoys most people, and will mean you will get a bad rating.
If you want a good rating, help people, provide information, write articles, find interesting stuff on the net and such.
Post Whoring is NOT the way to go.
