RX7 = Bad idea. The apex seals on the motors are pretty much guaranteed to blow between 50-70k miles, along with tons of other problems that go wrong. The rotary motor is a great concept, but there are far too few cars running them for the problems to have been fixed. Finding someone to work on a rotary motor's internals for a non ridiculous price is hard as hell. They're great power makers, but when they break, your screwed. And they break often.

N/A Supra suck. Turbocharging the N/A motor is garbage on them as well. The 1JZ/2JZ is not a direct swap into the engine bay. I'd avoid them.

the problem with the third gen RX7 is lightness. Mazda tried to take a page from Colin Chapman's book (look him up!) and made everything as light as they could. This mean the wiring was downsized and there was no slack in the harness. The cooling system is marginal and can barely keep up with the demands of a stock rotory, same with the intercooler. The fuel system is the real problem though... the car suffers from fuel slosh... go into a hard corner at less than a third of a tank, if the pickup in the tank runs dry, the engine will run lean and blow the seals.

The Second Gen Rotory 2 Turbo is near bulletproof.. because the car is more overbuilt than the third gen.

You also left the Vette off of that list. A C4 is pretty cheap and their engines are fool proof.. even the early C5s are going for a decent price now that the C6 is so hot.

Just simply import a TVR cerbera or chiamera from the UK.

Subs 13s stock, faster than a viper.

Can do a standing mile in 31 seconds.

For straight line I vote for Supra then the GSX. For Americano, cheapest way to go fast in a straight line has got to be the 5.0. A few grand and a summit catalog will get you a long way.

Yea definitely stay away from the RX7. I knew someone who had one and had millions of different problems with it and it was so hard to find someone to actually fix it. Their nice but pita.

Nobody talked about it after I mentioned it.. so I thought I would bring up the C4 and C5 vettes again. Just did an ebay search for corvette.. and came up with 22 PAGES of cars for sale. Everything from hotrods with vette engines to the cars themselves.

So, how can you put the camaro on the list and not it's bigger and better brother?
