I don't believe that we have as much freedom as we think we do. We certainly have more than other countries do, but there is so much corruption hidden under the carpet that it cannot be completely ruled out from the equation. Freedom is a replacement word for money. If you have loads of hard-earned sweat-busted money to pay all the taxes, fines, bills, healthcare costs, lawyer-fees, and court costs, then that has no meaning and you are truly free. BTW freedom can be realized for a number of successful years, but when you come of age, they treat old people who have founded American productivity every day of their whole lives like sh__ on a rock.
For one, the girl was driving too fast, and being only 20 she was inexperienced with driving in adverse weather. If you're driving slowly and a car speeds past you with snow flying, it won't damage your windshield. It can only happen if you're driving like the snow isn't there.
I think that's very well said, and a great quote.

It won't be until you have made a law for or against EVERY single action that the government will finally stop making laws. At that point, a country stops being a country. People stop being people, and turn into robots (or prisoners).

I'm completely against this law (and a fine?????), and the many, many other frivolous laws that keep getting imposed on us. They won't stop. EVER.

It'll do nothing to stop built up ice from flying off from under your car, and at least around here that's a far worse problem. Chunks of compacted snow and ice fall out from under tall vehicles that are often a foot tall. Now that's a problem. Just ask the busted up front end on my Accent.

It isn't a risk to others if they keep a safe distance and drive slow. If any falls, it won't break anything. The only way flying snow and ice is a risk is if you are driving close to a car with snow in front of you and you are going fast.
If people don't like snow flying around, they should move south.

The states pay out money to keep the roads clean of sbow because it is a road hazard. You do wipe your feet before walking into someones house, dont you?
We arent talking about a dusting of snow. We are talking about a clump which falls off your car, bounces/rolls and splats against a bumper causing snowball size splats against a windshields and obstruction of view. This is serious and causes more accidents then you realize obviously.
If you drive with an inch of snow on yoir car its no biggy. When you.have 6 inches of snow on your car we're talking about a few hundred pounds of the stuff which slides off your car as a unit.

Ooooh oooh ooh, look what I found!!! Snow on top of a trailer (about 3-5 feet worth) literally explodes off a truck as he goes under a bridge! Too cool!!

Anyone notice how the astute driver DIDN'T swerve, and even turned on his wipers?? What? Could it be???

So is rain when people don't know how to drive in it! It's 100% the fault of the driver of the car the snow landed on.

What will cause more accidents than having no law, is angry pissed furious people with cracked snowy windshields speeding up in dangerous conditions trying relentlessly to catch up to the car it came from, grabbing pens and cellphones, all because they know if they do they will be reassured their money back.
Imagine if someone mistook another car for your car, then took you to court. How would you convince the judge that it wasn't you but it came from the car next to you? Would devote thousands of dollars and tens of hours of your own personal time to attempt to clear your name? Imagine the number of people reporting false Police reports and insurance claims ON TOP of the burdens of an already clustered insurance system? You want to be on the phone with Monniqua Brown and your lawyer 7 and a half months after last year's snow storm trying to convince her there was a money-digging b*tch trying to pay off her lease driving behind you?

HKC... that's what people do now. The whole point is if it's law, then cops can pull you over and make you accountable for it. Basically it forces people to maintain accountablity for their actions.

I see exactly what you mean, understand and agree that the law enforces safety and would get people to wipe off snow off of their cars. It could even be good like in Montana. It makes sense. It could possibly be a great solution.
But it's just out of this world to make everybody accountable for a weather condition. It reminds me of the HOA or gated community. You get fined if your grass is 1 inch too high because your neighbor ratted on you, you can't keep a truck 1 foot too long, you can't have two satellites on your roof, you can't have a boat in front of the house, $100 fine for an oil leak on your driveway...etc. In return the community is nice and tidy, but you see my point?
