Today, in the Shoutbox, Visionz decided to give us a history lesson of the Hyundai community. Feel free to post your input.

FYI:
HA.org = HyundaiAftermarket.org
HP = HyundaiPerformance.com
SR = Shark Racing
READ FROM THE BOTTOM UP!!

(01:32 PM) visionz - June will be my 10 year anniversary of being in the Hyundai scene

(01:32 PM) visionz - God, I feel so old now

(01:32 PM) visionz - It stood for Hyundai Kia Daewoo

(01:31 PM) visionz - but they were 10 times worst than SR

(01:31 PM) visionz - There also used to be a company based out of PA, called HDK Autosport

(01:31 PM) visionz - Back then, we were lucky if we could find a CAI for our cars. The only companies on the map really, were SR, and MHP Tuning

(01:30 PM) visionz - The guy who started THC (The Hyundai Connection) actually works for Hyundai USA now intheir marketing department

(01:30 PM) visionz - A guy by the name of Sean ran it

(01:29 PM) visionz - There also used to be an Accent only forum back in the day when FxTreme was around, called Hyundai Tuner

(01:29 PM) visionz - same layout, just different color scheme

(01:29 PM) visionz - RIght, but its still the same site

(01:29 PM) majikTib - (Evo Fusion was a name change in an attempt to get away from the bad rep of SR)

(01:29 PM) visionz - Then RDT, Elantra XD, and Sonata Speed all started up

(01:28 PM) visionz - But 3rd Gen didnt last long

(01:28 PM) visionz - New Tib, and 3rd Gen Tib started up

(01:28 PM) visionz - Also, the new tib sites started as well

(01:28 PM) visionz - and started up Evo Fusion

(01:28 PM) visionz - Eventually, Bradley killed off the TSR members only forum

(01:28 PM) visionz - He took all the threads and posts from TSR and inserted them into the HA forums for archive material

(01:27 PM) visionz - Eventually Random (Tony) started up HA and myself, Jaws, and Hyundai JVX all helped him with it

(01:27 PM) visionz - And made their way to HP, and KORE

(01:27 PM) visionz - Alot of people migrated away from TSR because of the membership stuff

(01:26 PM) visionz - and Yuri and Dan started up the KORE forums

(01:26 PM) visionz - at that point, Rob started up HP

(01:26 PM) visionz - Bradley ended up making the forums membership only

(01:26 PM) visionz - You could either be a regular member or get a paid membership for $25/year

(01:25 PM) visionz - which was the child of Bradley (Yamaneko) and Sam from Shark Racing

(01:25 PM) visionz - Team SR started up

(01:25 PM) visionz - FxTreme ended up shutting down

(01:25 PM) visionz - It was the first real true Hyundai site with forums, galleries, tech guides, and so on

(01:24 PM) visionz - Then a couple of Aussies started up a site called FxTreme

(01:24 PM) visionz - Back in 96

(01:24 PM) visionz - That was the FIRST hyundai site EVER

(01:24 PM) visionz - It all started with a site called T-H-C.org

(01:24 PM) majikTib - woohoo! story time!

(01:24 PM) Caj Darkmoon - who gets more traffic now?

(01:24 PM) majikTib - that long? dang...

(01:24 PM) visionz - Actually...ok...real quick....heres the history of HA

(01:24 PM) majikTib - HA and HP were like the only two forums existing.

(01:24 PM) visionz - lol

(01:24 PM) Caj Darkmoon - ahh

(01:24 PM) visionz - 2 and a hlf years ago

(01:23 PM) majikTib - Visionz got the old backup from Random and resurrected it about a year ago

(01:23 PM) majikTib - Tony (Random) used to run the site. Back then, HA and HP were like RDT and NT (not rivalry, but the biggest on the intarweb)

(01:22 PM) majikTib - visionz waited for HA.com to become available, and some dbag snatched it up and murdered it, so visionz got HA.org

(01:22 PM) Caj Darkmoon - story?

(01:22 PM) Caj Darkmoon - oh yeah?

(01:22 PM) majikTib - Caj - it was shut down

(01:22 PM) majikTib - HA.org has been around forever, since like before God

(01:21 PM) Caj Darkmoon - and yet for some reason a lot of people migrated away back in the day tongue.gif

This was kind of the 10,000 foot overview. Theres ALOT more to it, as Im sure some of the senior members here can relate to. If anyone truly wants an in depth history lesson, I have alot of info on the subject. Hit me up on AIM or on here, or at HP or on HA. smile.gif

Its interesting, im a relative noob compared to visionz and such (joined 2004) but being on the forums all the time you get aware of the past hyundai forum history, but its nice to see a timeline for it all. Some of those smaller ones i never heard of.

Oh, and visonz broke SOCKS' most-shouts-in-a-row record by a bunch haha lmao.gif

I was on T-H-C.org and FXtreme back in the mid 90's also. 97 maybe? That's when I created the name JonGTR. Dunno why.

I was also a mod on the KORE forums. Dan made some badass shit, like my strutbar that I still have, but like someone else.......had problems delivering. Always personal excuses for it too.
HDK was the same way. Sometimes they delivered and the products were awesome, and sometimes you never got jack.

MHP (Mad House Productions) was the sh!t!!!!! Always great service. Just didn't make enough money I guess.

I think I was on every one of those forums.

Yup...that would be them....Pretty much 75% of Yuri's car was all parts from KORE. *lol* I remember when KORE charged a membership also, like TSR did. People got membership numbers and everything. laugh.gif

i remember all of those websites. You're also forgetting UKHCS but that wasn't involved with business sales however it was a huge pioneering u.k. based tuner website as well although Zoe had her website & forum up I think since 1998 or so, maybe earlier it's not written anywhere.

good times... i was familiar with rdtiburon in 2003 but that was before i had income wink1.gif
