Default Highway destroyed by Japanese earthquake repaired in six days

Work began on March 17 and six days later the cratered section of the Great Kanto Highway in Naka was as good as new. It was ready to re-open to traffic last night.

Yeah, they're still sucking wind over there. Still it's funny what happens when you don't have union rules and environmental laws holding up progress.

In the first pic of the destroyed road, look how thick the concrete is before it hits dirt. You wont ever find anything like that here in the states. Most DOT's cheap out and dont do quality paving like they do over there. Yeah, budgets and unions are probably a couple of reasons for that, but still....it would be nice if our highways and streets were a fraction of the quality as they are in other countries like Japanese and Chinese cities.
