Is Rita still a Class 5 Hurricane?

If so, we are so incredicbly screwed.
Rita is heading for 75% of the oil rigs in the gulf. They have NO chance agaisnt a class 5 hurricane.

...anybody remember those pictures of that bad-ass hurricane that hit galvostone in the 90's. Yeah, that was a class THREE!

Honestly, screw the oil rigs, I just hope people learned from New Orleans and GET OUT OF TOWN NOW. Screw traffic, get out somehow. I was watchin the news and there are idiots surfing the nice waves that Rita is teasing Galvistone's shores with. Idiots, I hope the cops find them in time and grab their asess outta the water.

Buy guys, especially in the SW, if Rita stays on course and at a class 5 level...expect gas to be 4.88 this time next week instead of 2.88

It definately does suck! ALL of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. live in Texas. The ones that live in or around Houston are leaving and heading to Giddings. I am originally from Houston, but grew up around Brian/College Station and the little town of Franklin; all I hope is that my family gets hell out of the way.

My GF's family just got here to SA from Houston/Galveston area. The 4 hour trip took 15 hours because of the traffic leaving. All the hotels around the SA area and 100 miles out are booked.
Texas isn't stupid, they announced a mandatory evac long before it hits. They do it all the time, just like back in 83. They stated that by tomorrow, if you're not out, then it's too late to start, and no one is going in to save you.
By the time it gets this far inland to SA, it'll probably just be a heavy rain. But I'm putting the Tib in the garage and a heavy tarp over the Z. fing02.gif

It became a class 5 this morning or maybe earlier. They expect no less than a class 3 to hit Houston/Galveston.

Well it looks like I'm in the clear. I'm surprised more guys from the Houston area didn't head south to the Valley.

Dad has cancer and it would be to hard to move him. Plus with all the traffic what would be the point. I'm not really worried about it, i figure we might get some wind and rain nothing serious. Hopefully.
