Funny... I guess that I am one of the few people that weren't entirely let down by this car. I knew that it was going to be a touring car when I bought my Tib in May. I asked the dealer if there were going to be significant changes to it in the next model year... She said that they didn't know much, only that the new Tib was going to be a v6 touring car, so when I found out the specifications, I wasn't at all surprised or dismayed. It is what she promised.

As for the looks... it is a clasy looking mordern GT type car. I think that it will get a whoel new and bigger market for Hyundai. A car company doesn't adhere to one look when they think that they can get more sales with another...

I made my comments before. I really like this new car even though I agree in that it is a departure from the small, light etc. of the present Tib. As for the name, GK is a refence name. I know Tiburon will remain and COUPE as well. As for Tuscani I never heard before I read it here but there is no reference to it in our ordering manuals. I already ordered one and bought all my engine mods, going 370+hp twin turbo.if it fits hehe! To tell you the truth I hate the idea of selling my gen2 tiby! There will be a Beta 2.0 with 6speed and only a little more weight available for the Beta lovers. The Delta V6 engine revs very nice due to its design (Santa Fe engine has different cams for more mid torque the tiburon will have better cams for sporty feeling). I saw the car in Florida and I thought it still has a SHARK look.

Not to crash the party, but the 4-cyl GK still weighs around 2600-2700 lbs, the same as the current Tib. It's the V6 model that weighs 2900 .

Sorry, with all the other mis-information Hyundai has given us, I do NOT belive that the V6 and 1 extra gear adds 300 lbs. I'm betting the I4 is closer to 2750 if not 2800. It is, after all a touring car, not a sports car, so they are going to add the required luxury items that will add to the weight of the I4 version.

Still for my money, I would buy a new sonata. The New sonata got the looks the new Tibby should have gotten, and the Tibby got left out like a step child and wacked with an ugly stick.

Random, there was a post over on Fxtreme from somebody that got a pre-sales sheet on the car. It listed the weights .

Tt was also at T-H-C, and it listed the weight as 2900 lbs. (T-H-C got it from Fxtreme, or the other way round, doesn't matter really)

Sorry, I don't believe those weights any more than I believe the published weights of motorcyceles by their manufacturers. Manufacturers ALWAYS list the weight of the vehicles low, and usually with no fluid. a 2900 lbs list car, will probably weigh closer to 3100 with oil, anti-freeze, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and a full tank of gas. And IF the V-6 Tibby weighs in at 2900 full of fluids, I'm sure the I4 is more than 2700. However, the debate is pointless untill we can get our hands on them and roll them onto a scale.
