Easy with the fast food places. People always knock them, but it's only the lazy and stupid people who can't make decent money at those types of jobs. When in actuality lazy and stupid people won't make money in any industry. I work at one of those places and make close to six figures. All of my store managers make between 40 and $50k a year. Not bad for a McJob! I know that's not the point of your post which is good paying jobs that are overlooked, but I get pissed when people equate places like McDonalds as low paying, unskilled jobs. It gives them an undeserved reputation.

Sorry, I used to work at a McJob during High SChool. I busted my ass for $5.50 an hour. Never again I will work at food service. I rather bust my ass in clerical work or some outdoor job than in Food service as a college or high school job.
I'm not making fun at people at food service though.. My friend is a manager at Burger King and he's making 30-40 K a year.

Customer service is not for everyone. It can be very stressful sometimes trying to make every customer happy. I enjoy it because I'm a social person who likes talking to people whether I know them or not.

I'm an Area Supervisor for an operator of 5 McD's franchises. At this point most of my job is exactly that. i get paid to make sure things get done. Not to do them. I handle most of the business end of the operation so that the operator can just sit back and collect checks. I've been there for almost 14 years (3 as Supervisor). I started there at after college at 19. I was an Oustanding store manager twice and won an award for the top Supervisor for the Boston Region in my first year in that position. The Boston region consists of close to 700 stores.
My total compensation package which includes full medical and dental for my wife and three kids, office expenses (cell phones ect),company car and gas, three weeks vacation and salary is a little over $85k.
Not bad for a McJob. The best part about it is that I have fun doing it. It's always a challenge.
It's definitely not for everyone though.
