I have a friend whos partially deaf and I've been thinking about taking some sign language classes just to that its easier to communicate with her. Anyone here know how to sign professionally or really well? How long did it take you to learn or whats the learning curve like?

I don't think it works in the dark m8. Anywho, if you are interested, learn it. I wished VERY many times I knew sign language when I was working in a Class 0 cleanroom and wanted to talk to somebody outside. Also works in any loud work environment, or in *ahem* close company with deaf chicks.

I know a little sign language from working with handicap kids. It's not extremely hard to learn the basics, but past that ???????? Start with the alphabet and go from there, a lot of the words use letters.

I bet you already know a little sign language already.
