We did that same test when I was in Iraq. The armor works. It works well. We were smart enough to sit the plate on a chair before we shot. On the front, it was a dent the size of the round sunk in about an inch. On the back it was about twice the size of a baseball, punched out about 1/4 inch. It would hurt to get hit by one of those, but the armor will absorb most of the impact.
