Java just got orders to Cannon AFB in NM. He's been trying to get here since 2005.
New Mexico and the whole Southwest has a certain desolate charm, it's hard to explain. ONce it gets into your blood, you've got to live here.
Nate, take the shorter route.
My PERSONAL opinion on road trips, by yourself, is that you need to...
1. Stop once between tanks of gas at a rest stop to use the bathroom, and stretch.
2. Bring some VARIED snacks, and a LARGE 32 oz or so plastic mug with a sipper top. (You can usually pay like 45 cents to refill one at 7-11 or wherever it is, and ifyou FILL it up with ice, you can always run some ice across your face to help keep you awake).
3. If you are getting sleepy, PULL THE HELL OVER AND SLEEP!
4. Get some cold coffee drinks, they DO help. Keep the heater on if it's cold, but just on your feet, heater in the eyes = sleeping driver.

Maybe next fall, after I am sure of the tib I am looking at will make the trip, I may have take a road trip of my own out there

well, i found a new route, and itll be skipping knoxville, and heading thru louisville. itll cut like 185 miles off the longer trip. my aunt is about 14 hours into the trip, which i will be doing the first day. I will be able to stay there for a few hours get some good southern food, and be on my way.
i plan on stopping like every other tank. i will be bringing a couple sobe adrenaline rush's, choice munchies, 52oz. 7-11 mug, maybe some sammiches.
if its cold, i usually roll down the windows.. when i turn heat on, i can't stay awake.. so imma have windows half down, and gonna blow the speakers of my 'man van' lol. loud music helps me stay awake..

Guys, if you're somewhere NEAR where he's traveling, please consider meeting him somewhere. I met with Patreezy in (i think)Flagstaff AZ. He traveled about 60 miles to get there, i diverted my trip by about 50 miles, waited about an hour, and we had some fun. We met for dinner at sizzler or red lobster. Then he suggested coldstone because when you put a dollar in the tip jar they have to sing and dance (hehe, i blew $5 in tips).

alright, well, this is peoples chance.. so far i have one 'project for gas money', im doing on my trip down.
i will be helping J3ROMY mold on some really nice side skirts he just got for his tib. they are perfect fit and made from ABS. anyway, he is going to help me with my gas on the way down and we are gonna grab a quick bite down in his town.
so my project for gas list is already started.
if you got any project that will take roughly an hour or so of time, and want some help, let me know. all i would appreciate is a few dollas for some gas money in my 'man van'..
let me know, ill be happy to help ya with it.

Actually Nate, you'll only be on I-80. It runs just south of Chicago, and it's a nice 4-5 lane interstate. Won't be much worse than the traffic you'll deal with when you leave the Detroit area. I'm pretty sure you'll only hit one $.60 toll.
