I was thinking more about how the spare is is essentially part of the crumple zone and absorbs a rear impact. Removing it likely means much more damage to the car and possibly the occupants.
I think I could probably use my spare, at least on the rear. My car is lowered with sideskirts and 16" rims.

I was planning on doing this, but then again what would the weight profit be, like a couple of kg's. I think you'll be glad when you still have your spare when you have a flat one.
Maybe replacing the spare with a tire repair kit. Saves space and some weight and you can still repair the tire and continue the journey.

That's pretty useless. How will you ever get the spare tire on without a jack.
Or are you such a musle man that you can jack the car with your 2 hands eyeroll.gif
Probably after you've removed the wheelnuts with only your fingers laugh.gif:

I'd never remove my spare and jack unless I was racing. Plus I have bad luck. Nothing ever breaks unless I don't have the tools to fix it. I've always had a spare and jack and thus I've never had a flat tire, ever. Name any other automotive problem and I've had it. I even had a wheel and rotor come off (over tightened the bearings and the heat welded the bearings to the spindle, snapping it in the process).

I had it out since I bought the car. I would look ghetto with it on anyway. The one flat I had I was lucky enough to be like a mile and a half away from my Dad's shop. I rarely go more than 30 miles from my house, and my dad has plenty of buildings around that would have a spare 195-215ish tire and one of those contraptions to remove the wheel.
If you drive long distances I wouldn't recommend it.
