Well, I've always assumed the roughness is from the A/C clutch. My A/C has been on since I've owned the car pretty much... A/C for defrost in the winter, and A/C for coolness durring the summer. Pretty much my A/C is on all the time.... I've come to the assumption that it is normal when the A/C is on.

I'm saying my car feels like that when the AC is OFF. It gets even worse when it's on.

After I ran some seafoam through my intake system I re-lubed my IAC with silicone lube because upon examination, it seemed to need it. Another thing that dosn't hurt is to clean your MAF sensor so that it knows the proper ammount of air entering the system.

But the discription of the origonal post is proper operation.

Oh yeah... clean it with electronics cleaner or MAF cleaner and don't touch the flaps with anything except cleaner or it will die.

Today I was driving down the highway when all of a sudden the car jerked, the RPMs dropped, and the CEL flashed on. A split second later, the CEL went off, the RPMs went back up to normal. It happened so quick I'm surprised I even saw the CEL blink once.

Went to AutoZone to get the CEL code(s) read, and there were none.

Also, I was idling at 2k today..

This 1.8 ECU mod SUCKS for some tibs I guess....

You have an auto? The ECU and the TCU have some communication. Maybe you should try swapping back to the 2.0L ECU and see if the problem persists.

I have that happen once every few thousand miles. Exact same thing. It's like your engine dies at high speed and just starts back up.

No, I have a 5spd. But, the car was swapped.

In regards to the ECU, it doesn't matter if the ECU came from a car with an auto or 5spd does it?

I've got teh same idle issue too, but no CEL's from it so it doesn't bother me.

Actually, it could... being that the ecu is programed to comunicate with the auto tranny ECM, it could be like "lacking" that signal and entering some kind of secure mode.
It couldn't hurt tp try a manual 1.8 Ecu (I mean to be sure it's from a manual car...)
Maybe you can borrow one from a member here? Drive to his location, ask for the ECU, give him a ride and lunch (so he's comfortable with you using his ECU smile.gif ) and see if it fails...

Your car idles at 2k? That doesn't bother you? lol.

Do you get the random loss in power/bogging as well?
