If your car doesn't have a VSS, you don't need one on the transmission. I guess they started in 2001, but before that it was just the speedo cable drive.

Am I right here guys?

Stocker is right, but hey, if you don't want to look stupid then try it with soldering, check with a GPS if it works correctly. If it does not work correctly, Cut the solder and try the swap. The worst that could go wrong is having the connection be a little short and having to tug the wire a bit. I don;t see why this would not work.

mi car is a 99 and it came with VSS.
