Okay, so the blue car has had this recurring CEL problem for quite some time..
I had a funny feeling it was the TB, so I switched it onto the red car, now the red car has a CEL (haven't put the blue one back together to see if CEL went away though).
I can't get the code read here unless I pay someone..no autozone.
What could the TB possibly do to make the car draw a CEL, it almost seems like there's an air leak or something, but I double checked and all bolts are tight. I think the idle might be adjusted on it (from a time I was having a problem when I needed a new TB gasket, if anyone remembers that), could that have anything to do with it?

...

There's no auto zone?

How bout Pep Boys?

Checker Auto?

You can do one of 3 things.

Find a place that does it for free (I guarantee there is one), or go buy one yourself, get the CEL #, then return it. Get one of the cheap plug in readers off of ebay that you get the code read on your PC with, and keep it.

If it's to do with the TB, I can almost guarantee it's the TPS.

So, find out what car stores you have near you, let us know.

There's nothing.
I have CarQuest, United Auto Supply, and a small business Rick's Certified Auto (i hate that fvcker).
And unless you can buy OBD2 readers at wal-mart I can't get one myself either.

Should I try switching the TPS's?

i'm 95% sure you have a defective TPS..
check if you have a DAE SUNG TPS those are the old problematic ones
the newer KEFICO seam to resist time and abuse much better

How close do you live to a town with a Autozone? Or any of the other places that do it?

45 minutes.
I am pretty sure that the CEL has something to do with the idle, I'm going to play with the idle adjustment screw later today. I read on webtech that you can get a CEL code from having too high OR low of an idle.

You can even get them from your gascap man. Could be anything.

Take the drive out there and have it scanned.

if i rev the car in neutral and then completely let off the gas, the engine will drop below 500rpm, then rise back up again to about 800. The red tib has been doing this since the TB switch, before that it was a very nice smooth idle at 900 everytime.
It is also very hard to start, it cranks for a noticeably longer amount of time, and sometimes I smell a little gas. (every since I switched the TB's that is. I noticed this on the blue tib also, but not as much, probably not as much because it's auto, whereas in the red 5spd your in neutral idling a lot more than you are in an auto)

Almost 100% that it's the idle screw or the TPS being that:
Had CEL on blue tib (red tib was fine)
Switched TB's
Red tib now has CEL and idle bobs

im going to say with 95% certainty that it is the TPS.
