Well, now that I have a tib with only 50k on it, I am wondering if I should switch over to synthetic oil .. I've read from some people that supposedly our engines "don't like synthetic oils"? If I were to do this I would be investing in some Royal Purple, just wondering if it's all worth it, or should I just stick with my conventional Valvoline cool.gif

Mine was running Synth when i bought it and it still runs great. Hardly uses any oil even when i am late on getting it done. I use Syntec but am thinkin about going to Mobil 1 next time.

The frequency of changes is FAR more important than what kind of oil you use. Just run the regular stuff, but change it frequently.

Exaxctly what I was going to say. I just had my first real example of doing your oil change when it's do. I went 3k past the due time and I do believe I fried the turbo bearings. sad.gif I learned a very valuable lesson. drillsergeant.gif But i've been runnig Mobile one from the first oil change 5w-30.

Supposedly synthetic has a longer breakdown period. But ultimately, it's the same. So it isn't gonna be better than dino oil. It may last a bit longer, but it's not worth the extra $3-4 per quart. Basically, you are paying 3 times as much for oil that's not gonna last close to 3 times longer.
You could put in regular oil, change it twice as often, and still come out cheaper with the same condition motor.
