why do you guys keep recommending a two car side by side test? you're not listening. please read posts thoroughly before responding. my guage doesn't work. if i get next to another tiburon, he'll tell me he's going 70mph, i'll tell him i'm going 0...get it? i have an idea of how fast i'm going by the rpms, but that's only because i remember from when my speedo worked what rpms were what speed.

also, i don't know if anyone here know's about the speedo sensor. webtech says it shold send voltage to the guage of 0-12 volts when the contacts hit in the sensor. however, when i bought the new sensor, it says on the label 6-32V...which makes me think it sends 6-32v to the guage. does anyone know if hyundai switched somewhere along the line for RD tibs?

this is very interesting. It worked for a couple of days after replacing the sensor and then nothing. Have you crawled back under the car to check your connections? There is a chance that the connector betweeo sensor and the harness could have come undone. Also, make sure the sensor is properly screwed into the tranny. If it is loose, it might not pick up a true reading.

already checked that. another interesting thing is that after i replaced the sensor, it didn't work for about 20 miles, then when i was on the highway, it just popped up to 70mph. then it stopped working two days later. i really don't get it.

This might sound silly, but is it still under warranty?

You purchase a used cluster and swap the speedometer. That is what I did when mine broke....on an accent, it's mechanical. A sqare rod goes into the back of the speedo and turns the needle. One day it jammed. What sucks when swapping sppedo is the mileage....try to get one that has fewer miles on it.

Or get a new one and swap out your odometer.

wouldnt that be fraud tho? or is it real hard to prove so it doesnt matter? probably would want one that had slightly less miles on it...
