Silicone spray with heat wrap?
I just bought some DEI heat wrap for my header and intake. My uncle (who has owned some big muscle cars in the past) said to get high-temp silicone spray. Supposedly the spray is supposed to seal the wrap and protect it from moisture and dirt, which should make the wrap last longer. Can anyone confirm this and can I just buy this stuff at any Autozone or Pep Boys? Wont it just burn off from the engine heat?

He's 100% correct. Water and heat wrap don't get along. It's not such a big deal on a track-only car that never gets wet, but on street car, the spray will make the wrap last longer and also cut down on the stink you get when wet wrap gets hot.

I was waiting to see what others said on this. Mine was silicones and only lasted a year. Silicone got brittle and snapped the heat wrap. I still don't know why.
