Ok, so this may be a repost but I searched and didn't find anything that answered my question. Maybe I am just blind, who knows. So anyway, I have noticed over the course of time that my RD2 gets different gas mileages at different times. For instance, when I drive strictly on the highway I get 250 miles to a tank, when I drive mostly on smaller state and county roads I get about 300 miles to a tank. I have noticed that on the highway when doing 80 (no more than that) that my RPMs are consistantly about 3500. I know this is what is killing my gas mileage. My 98 Grand AM did not have this phenomenon...when I went 80 the RPMs hovered just below 3000. I have noticed that my fiance's 04 Sunfire does the same thing as my Grand AM did. Furthermore, my best friend Scott has an 05 Altima 3.5SL (the model with the 350z engine) and I have seen him going 90 while his RPMs stay right at 3000. Is there anything I can do, or do all Tiburons do this? Highway driving is killing my gas mileage. Just for the record, they just changed the speed limit on our highways to 70.

unfortunatly, the tib is geared a LOT more aggressivly than the other two cars you mentioned. this gives us good acceleration at a cost to high speed and fuel economy at highway speeds.

I have found though, if I keep my speeds between 70 and 75 I can get close to 350 or more a tank. Soon as I take her over 75, my MPG drops like a rock.

Wow, Mad_John that's really interesting.

Maybe it would be better to have a bit longer 1 st gear, then 2,3,4 shorter and longer 5th?

I hate you all....I get like 280-290 to a tank these days. I guess the P&P, 1.8L intake cam, I/H/E and all the other stuff hurts me but i dont see how its that much tho...Im also more like 4k at 80...on 205/50/15s...wtf?
I also cruise at 80 on the highway most of the time too which might own me on mpg.
