I have thought of removing the one on the passenger side myseld. Probably they are harmonic dampers, made to work out of sync with the shaking of the engine to cut down on Noise, vibration, and harshness... or they are compleatly solid and just add weight to the mounts to keep them from vibrating in tune with the engine.

Try a good enima to clear out those dirty bowels man, then take a nice big dump and you'll probably save more weight doing that than pulling the little guys off the mounts.

I lost about 75 pounds from my car so far,

I don't think I have that much compacted feces in my bowel.

But back on topic. The thing on the mount that I removed feels solid, like a weight.

I am going to take a pic of all of the worthless stuff I removed one of these days

Those "little" weights are about 5lbs each. I dunno about you, but I've never taken a 5lb crap in my LIFE!(no way a 10 pound crap!) lol.gif

They are there to dampen vibration. They don't do much IMHO. If you want to take them off...go for it.

You would be surprised how much it all adds up. I forget what domestic it was.. but it was either late 60s or early 70s, but it was not even availible with coat hooks.. they deleted them to save the ounces. It might have been the SCRambler.

That is my Automatic fluid dipstick. I broke my oil dipstick when installing the header.

The dampener seems to have some rubber, but it is almost all metal.

There is more stuff I removed, like stock air intake, Stock exhaust manifold, muffler, floor mats.

The big shinny thing is the core of the glove box cover. It is crazy heavy. Now my glove box doesn't come crashing down when I open it.
