Well, well, well. Seems like we have a comedian in our midst. If I had known you where capable of such humour, Steel, I would have nominated you for Australian Comedian Of The Year on Australia Day. Guess you are just gonna have to be proud of the knowledge that you are Tosser Of The Century, buddy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

OK kiddies,

I have all the parts I need. I have the head. I have oils, lubricants, and coolant. I have most (piston ring compressor arrives tomorrow, hopefully) of the tools I need.

Now I just have to put it all together.

I will keep you posted with a blow by blow account - as long as it doesn't take up too much of my time, lol.

Wish me luck,

aussiedeuce

Gave my car a wash the other day and thought it looks pretty good, so I am sharing with y'all. HAHAHA

Ok, like I said, I have all the parts required. Here are some pics of the cylinder head that was ported and polished and had 15 thou machined off.....

And believe it or not, but I ended up buying a heap of parts from Hyundai.

I did this for three reasons. 1. They offered me a decent price. 2. They had ALL the parts ready for pick up by lunch time the next day. 3. The parts dude was helpful and friendly.

It is coming along. It is the home stretch now that you have all the parts. Just a few more work sessions until turn key!

OK. OK. I know it doesn't look very pretty ATM, and some of you are probably wondering if I have done anything at all to the engine since I posted the first photos at the start of this thread. But I assure you that below the grubby exterior breathes a new and shiny heart.

Anyway I am getting close to turning the key.

I'll let ya'll know when I fire her up tonight

looks good man

looks like u need some new wires asap tho, and dont forget to hand turn it and make sure everything clears before firing her up.

timing fools even the best of us sometimes

o and once you get her going, im dying to see the the compression on all cylinders. i dont believe i ever seen re-ringed stock size beta tested. so this info would be great to have for people wanting to keep a stock bore when upgrading internals. you should be at 213psi, but tolerances go ass low as 199psi according to hyundai service notes.

good luck and hope it fires up and runs great for you

Such a beautiful car, and such an ugly engine inside. Can't wait til you make it sparkle and start it up!

09.56pm 28 Feb 2012 - FX fired. Turned over fine but idled too high because I forgot to hook up the air filter etc. HAHAHAHA!

10.26pm 28 Feb 2012 - FX idled. Idled at 900rpm for five minutes.
