its keeps the intake from getting gummed up with oil mist and sludge...
this is what i did with mine
i ran the breather the ground get you a long hose to do this tie it off somewhere.
now the pvc off the engine you run in to the catch tank and then the other line off the catch tank you run back in to the mainafold do not run it in to the intake pipe just block that off. doing it this way you still have a vacum on the crankcase.
this way you will keep you intake mainfold clean and the pvc valave still is useable

I think we need an official writeup on installation for MAP and MAF of a catch can.
MAF can't use breather filters if I remember correctly.

So what should the setup be then Jon? I was told when I put up a thread for it some time ago that we can't use breathers.

^ RedZ, I think that was only concerning the use of breather filters on the idle-air control actuator like on my MAP setup. You guys can still use a brether filter to vent the crankcase though... It might just need cleaning every-so-often as it is likely to get engine oil all through it over time.

seems like there are 101 ways to hook one of these up and i'm not sure which one's the best. btw, redz i don't think it matter if your map or maf it should be the same. mad_john's idea sounds good except doesn't the breather alow air to come in as well as out. wouldn't it be sucking junk up through that hose you have ran to ground into the engine?

I did a #1, well if anyone cares it has oil in it. I just used a little Homedepot thing that costed like 15 or something like that. I works fine but I guess it doesnt add much of a show factor but I dont really mind

The problem is that the MAF has to read ALL the air coming in. if you put a breather in the wrong place, it can't dothat.
