As soon as you get out the OEM oil sensor, the oil will leak.... So put something to catch the oil (is not so much if you work quickly) and spray some oil degreasser before around that part so it can be easy to clean it later...

About the wire sender, use a 14 gauge.... better 12 gauge...

is that the one im looking for, then i just get a T connector and plug the staock one on one side and the new one one the other. correct? also is the t connector metal or plastic

I think if you attack this first thing before you drive the car for the day.. not only will the engine be cold with no danger of burning yourself, but most of the oil should be down in the pan so you do not have to worry too much about leakage.

thats not right. thats either the coolant temp sensor or sender. cannot remember which one.

the oil pressure sensor is further down, more on the front of the engine
